Common questions.
How is my rating calculated?
TopSpin uses the Glicko-2 rating system. Your rating increases when you win and decreases when you lose. The amount depends on the rating difference between you and your opponent — beating a higher-rated player earns you more points. New players start with higher uncertainty so their rating adjusts faster to their true skill level, and inactive players’ uncertainty grows over time.
What are placement matches?
New players must complete 10 placement matches to establish their initial rating. These matches help the system place you at the right level on the ladder so your early matches are competitive.
Who can I challenge?
You can challenge any player within a reasonable rating gap (default ±300). This skill-based system keeps matches fair and competitive — you will always face opponents at a similar level. Ratings update after each approved match.
How does match verification work?
After playing, the challenger submits the score with a photo proof (scoreboard, app screenshot, etc.). The opponent must confirm or dispute the result. A moderator reviews every match before it is approved and ratings are updated.
How do tournaments work?
Tournaments are organized by admins. You pay an entry fee, and 75% of the total entry fees form the prize pool. The remaining 25% covers platform costs. Winners receive prize money and permanent achievement badges.
